I love that my sister had an edgy side that I was unaware of until yesterday...
In the midst of cleaning her home, I came across what I thought was a beautifully ornate wooden jewelry box with a lock and key.
Although, I found it odd that the box had a thermostat - maybe silver and gold needed to be kept cooler and I never knew that? Or perhaps I am just extremely naieve? Yup, it is the latter - the box was filled with expensive cigars and punch cards showing she had indeed enjoyed a good stoggie from time to time. I had no clue!
Claudia had desperately wanted to see KISS performing at the King Dome and her adorable sisters really did not want to attend so she asked my Dad. My dad would go to the ends of the earth for his daughters and well he pretty much did - he said "yes". So as they were standing in line to enter the Dome, a few of my father's military personnel were inspecting the entering crowd when they recognized him. "General, what are you doing here?" Dad still thinks it is hilarious that they were the only ones escorted into the building. What a true hero!
One of my favorite memories was when she was 13 and came with the folks to visit me at WSU. Knowing her obsession with baseball and how much joy it brought her and since Iwas friends with the Cougar's baseball catcher - he was able to snag a ball from a winning game and have all the players sign it for her. We presented it to her in Pullman along with the official ballcap she is wearing in the photo below taken in 1986. She was thrilled and obviously treasured it dearly.
Yesterday, after 18 years of sitting on her baseball trophy cabinet and sealed in it's special case, the ball was returned to me.
